• Najib Arrives In Nabawan To Launch Rural Health Clinic

    NABAWAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has arrived here to launch district health clinic which will benefit about 34,000 people around here.

    He was accompanied by Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, Pensiangan Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Joseph Kurup, Nabawan assemblyman Datuk Bobbey Ahfang Suan, state cabinet minister deputy Health minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya and state Health director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi.

    The RM28.8million clinic was completed in Nov 15, 2016 and will be fully operational the next month.

    Located about 70 kilometres from the Keningau district hospital, the health clinic has 87 staff including two family medicine specialists, ten medical officers and three dental officers.

    Keningau district officer Dr Marsudi Manah said on average there are about 255 patients daily.

    "But during the weekly market here every Wednesday, there will be more people seeking health services such as the maternal and child care, screening and other treatment.

    The clinic also has 12 beds for men and women and another three for postnatal women who undergo normal deliveries," he said when met at the health clinic, adding it also has 24-hour Emergency and Trauma unit.

    Marsudi added the farthest patients they have were from Kabu, which is near the Sabah-Kalimantan border.

    The clinic is also providing mobile clinic to reach out the community nearby.-NST
