Structures, buildings along Serian-Pantu Junction stretch to be cleared for Pan Borneo Highway

KUCHING: All structures including non-residential buildings along the road from Serian to Pantu Junction are now being demolished and removed to make way for the next phase of the ongoing Pan Borneo Highway project.

The Land and Survey Department, in a statement yesterday, said ‘Ops Highway 4’ would involve only structures and buildings along this 75km road alignment.

“All affected parties have been advised to move out from the affected road alignment, since they’ve already received the compensation and ex-gratia payments from the government. They have also been given a deadline to move out,” the department said.

The operation is being carried out by the Land and Survey Department, police, Rural Water Supply Department, State Security Unit and Sarawak Energy Bhd.

“The government understands all difficulties and problems faced by the people involved.

However, this project is very important for the development of the state and the government has also taken its best steps to ease the burden of those affected,” the department added.-BP
