2016 Honda CBR250RR World Premiere In Indonesia – Prices Start At RM19,500!

The long-awaited 2016 Honda CBR250RR, the replacement for Honda’s long-in-the-tooth CBR250R, has finally made its global debut in Indonesia. Ever since images of the Honda CBR250RR surfaced on the internet, plus the display of a prototype at a motor show in Japan last year, there has been plenty of interest in the this “Light Weight Super Sports Concept,” which will have a parallel-twin engine displacing either 250 cc or 350 cc, depending on intended market.

As rumoured, the 2016 Honda CBR250RR is a 250 cc parallel-twin, with eight-valves, and liquid-cooled. As per the concept, the CBR250RR sports a single brake-disc front and rear, with upside-down forks. The rear is suspended with Honda’s Pro-Link, and pre-load has five positions.

At the back is a twin-exhaust can setup, possibly in an effort to keep the noise down. New for the CBR250-series is ride-by-wire, with three engine modes. Twin-LED headlights grace the sharp front end.

Three colour schemes are available – Racing Red, Anchor Grey metallic and Matte Gunpowder metallic. The CBR250RR also features what Honda calls a “layered cowl”, designed to optimise the air-flow and aerodynamics of the bike.

In Indonesia, two models will be offered: non-ABS for 63-68 million rupiah (RM19.5k-21k), and the ABS version from 69-70 million rupiah (around RM21,500). According to Honda, the 2016 Honda CBR250RR will only be released in Japan later this year. - Paultan
